Home Remedies For Cold And Cough




The flu season usually means that someone in your family circle will probably get sick. Reaching for the medicine cabinet may not necessarily be the best solution especially at the first sniffle. There are other things that you can do for cold and cough which are home remedies. There are many home remedies for cold and cough which you can try, some more popular than others but all have shown some type of effectiveness against the symptoms.

Home Remedy #1 – Chicken Noodle Soup

The one home remedy for cold and cough that everybody is familiar with is chicken noodle soup. This is probably the one home remedy for cold and cough which works really well right away. The reason why this home remedy works is that the steam will open up the nasal passages while eating the soup can make you feel better right away. If you have not given chicken soup a try before, then you should next time you show any symptoms of a cold.

Home Remedy #2 – Zinc and Vitamin C

Chicken soup is not the only home remedy for cold and cough. In fact, other foods can also make you feel better. Try to go with foods that will boost your immune system. Foods which contain zinc and vitamin C are great for fighting the cold and cough. You should also be drinking a lot of fluids when you get a cold. That can be water, juice, hot tea and even milk.

Getting Through A Cold and Cough

The one symptom that is probably the worst when you have a cold or cough is probably the sore throat. A sore throat can actually make it hurt every time you eat or drink. Even when you sneeze, cough or breathe, it can hurt so taking care of a sore throat is very important. You can try having soft cold foods which can help you with your sore throat such as jello, pudding or popsicles.
