One of the inevitable conditions that should be
expected are the brown spots that appear on our skin as we age. There are
things we do during life that hasten their arrival, like not using enough
sunscreen or moisturizers while we can. Once they appear, however, it is not
the end of the world, because all of them can be treated with traditional home
remedies that will fade or remove them.
Exfoliating
Brown Spots
One of the best home remedies to use are those that
remove brown spots altogether. They do this through a process known as
exfoliating, which removes the skin cells that have become discolored due to
premature aging. The home remedy that will work best in this situation involves
using lemon juice, applied with a cotton ball, directly to the skin. Dabbing
brown spots with the juice twice a day, for at least a week or two, will fade
the spot completely away. Red onions are reported to do the same thing, but
will smell worse than the lemon juice.
Regenerating
Home Remedies
Another method for removing brown spots through home
remedies is to use substances that will trigger the skin’s regenerative
properties, and fade the spots through healing. Castor oil is recommended for
use if the skin around the spots is rough. The oil will penetrate the skin
deeply, and soften and heal it over time. Shea butter is another substance used
in home remedies for discolored spots, and its composition is close to that
which is found in the skin. Working it into the affected areas will see the
spots begin to fade within four to six weeks.
Natural
Moisturizers
One of the reasons that age spots appear so clearly
is because the skin around these brown spots has lost its natural moisture due
to premature aging. Home remedies that involve using certain oils will
supplement that moisture, and return the skin to its original levels and fade
the spots. Shea butter, grape seed oil, jojoba oil and olive oil will work best
if worked into the skin at least once or twice a day.
