Everyone dreads tense muscles. They are extremely painful
and can hinder your activities and normal functionality throughout the day.
Sometimes people get cramps simply from pulling a muscle while others may get
them due to an unbearable amount of stress. Either way, cramps can be the
body’s way of communicating that enough is enough and it needs some rest! If
you find yourself with dreaded cramps, try these home remedies to alleviate
your pain.
Exercise
Muscle cramps occur often when muscles are tightening up
within the body. A great remedy to help release this tension would be to get up
and get moving! Even just walking around can help relax those tense muscles.
Other great home remedies and forms of exercise would be participating in yoga,
jogging or riding a bike. Pretty much anything that gets the body moving is a
plus for this method. For a leg cramp, a somewhat successful remedy would be to
place your foot on very cold ground, or perhaps an ice pack. This may help alleviate
the pain temporarily while you find another solution.
Diet
Certain substances can actually heighten your pain during
cramps. A good preventative home remedy for this would be to minimize or stray
away from anything containing caffeine about four days before your cycle is
scheduled to begin. That is, if your cramps are related to female cycles. Dairy
has also been known to create tenser muscles, so try staying away from this if
you are starting to feel the effects of muscle cramps as well. However, a good
home remedy substance that will help alleviate the pain would be magnesium. Or,
potassium! Potassium has been known to greatly reduce the effects of cramps.
This is why many times you will see athletes munching down on bananas after
their race. For some reason it works!
Liquids
An excellent home remedy to alleviate cramps would be
creating a certain tea concoction. Bring one to two cups of water to a boil.
Once this is happening, smash about 1 ½ teaspoons of Anise seed into a mug.
Pour the boiled water into the mug, and let steep for about twenty minutes.
Drink, enjoy, and sip away the pain! Another great home remedy would be taking
some ibuprofen and sitting in a long, hot shower. Another great method for
getting rid of muscle cramps would be to drink a lot of water! Keeping your
body hydrated will help ensure it can run as smoothly as possible, without any
stop-ups.
