When it comes to food, there are some that qualify as home remedies for congestion. Pungent or spicy foods or even a heavy dose of black pepper in your chicken soup can help you open up your sinus packages. A lot of people will choose to go with ethnic foods because of the spiciness found in them. Dishes such as Indian, Mexican or Chinese which are made with hot peppers are constantly used by many people.

Home Remedy #2 – Hot Compress

Other home remedies for congestion include the actual physical manipulation to give you relief in the nasal area. You can use a moist hot compress under the eyes placed over your nose. This home remedy helps in the drainage of sinus. Breathing in hot vapor can also help when suffering from congestion. Boil water and place a towel over your head. After that, breathe in the vapor to help you clear up your sinuses.

Home Remedy #3 – Homemade Saline Spray

Other ideas to help you treat nasal congestion at home include saline sprays which you can make by boiling water with salt and baking soda. You should also be aware of any allergies that you may be suffering from to avoid the symptoms altogether. Some of the allergies that may trigger nasal congestion include allergies to dairy products. If that is the case, talk to your doctor as you may be able to find other allergies you never knew you had.
